Like most blazing stars in Hollywood it seemed like Ewan McGregor was just suddenly there – but in fact McGregor worked his way up to the spotlight in Hollywood.
McGregor first galvanized his audience with his edgy portrayal of the journalist in Shallow Grave. The project teamed Ewan up with director Danny Boyle – since McGregor has gone on to work on three of Danny Boyle’s projects, each a great success. Their second teaming was the brilliant Trainspotting – an ingenious performance by McGregor leaves no questions at all, he has caught everyone’s attention.
In 1999 McGregor joined George Lucas’s space legacy as Obi-Wan Kenobi, in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. McGregor teamed up with Natalie Portman and Liam Neeson to defeat the Darth Maul, the strongest Dark Lord of the Sith to ever wield a lightsaber in the pre-sequel to the great Star Wars Trilogy.
McGregor’s most recent project was the stunning musical romantic comedy Moulin Rouge. Set in pre-1900’s Paris, in the thick of the city’s decadence. Sex, drugs and dancing girls, swirling in pit of temptation and revolutionary romantic love. McGregor’s character falls passionately in love with the tumultuous courtesan, Nicole Kidman.
