    Biography
Robin had his first small screen success on the already hit television program Happy Days playing a space alien named Mork from the planet Ork, in one episode. This lead to his own program titled Mork and Mindy, about a spaceman who becomes roommates with an Earth woman. His first major role came as the ever loved cartoon sailor Popeye . Williams, though enjoying the comedic spotlight, wanted to play the straight man for once and received his chance in the film The World According To Garp . Playing the writer son of an overbearing mother played by Glenn Close . Robin would go on to do other small but important comedic roles in bizarre films like the Barron Munchausen, but it would be his role in Good Morning Vietnam that would make him an A-list actor. Soon after proving his acting stamina for straight roles, Williams made films like Awakenings with Robert DeNiro (which many critics believe was his finest piece of acting to date), Dead Poets Society and (though it had very funny moments) Mrs. Doubtfire . But Robin Williams curse of never winning an Oscar for his amazing work would come to an end with the film Good Will Hunting .
