Born in New Rochelle, New York, on February 18, 1964, the nephew of comic-strip artist Alex Raymond, and the creator of Flash Gordon, Jungle Jim, and Rip Kirby. Dillon was named after the TV western hero, Matt Dillon, from Gunsmoke. Dillon is second oldest in a family of six children. He was discovered by a Warner Brothers talent scout while he was playing hooky.
Dillon established himself as the highly photogenic, heartthrob in films like Little Darlingswhere he romanced both Tatum O'Neal.
By the mid-1980’s Dillon was ready to break free from the limiting heartthrob role into more adult roles. It was roles like his somber, unheroic portrayal of a junkie trying to come clean in Gus Van Sant's acclaimed Drugstore Cowboy that began to break down those presumptions about who Matt Dillon was and what he was capable of as an actor.
Recently Dillon stunned audiences again with another brilliant performance in Harald Zwart’s sexy havoc ridden comedy One Night at McCool's. This time working along side of such tremendous talents as: Liv Tyler, John Goodman, Paul Reiser and Michael Douglas.
We can expect a great deal more from this provocative leading man. |
